Infrastructure improvements at Snug Primary School

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

The new school gym and presentation hall at Snug Primary School has now been officially opened, adding a wonderful new space to support the growing school and Snug community.

Construction work on the $2.5 million project began early in 2019, and the facility has already become a hub for the delivery of quality education programs, including PE, Drama and the school’s Skills program, and also offers additional space for Before and After School Care programs.

The gym and presentation hall provides ample space for assemblies, large school events and community gatherings, having grandstand seating, audio visual facilities, bathrooms, storage and office space.

Landscaping around the new facility has also been improved to provide an informal, relaxed area for students and the community. An art installation – a bench seat in the form of a giant shoelace – is also now in place representing the achievements of the students during their primary school years.

Although this event was delayed as a result of COVID-19, it’s wonderful that we are now able to celebrate the redevelopment and the continuing advancement of the school.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring each and every student has the school environments needed to have the best possible chance to learn, grow and thrive.
