Injured man charged with concealing shooting, NSW

A man who was shot in Sydney’s west last month has now been charged after allegedly concealing information after the incident.

On Monday 15 June 2020, police were called to Middlehope Street, Bonnyrigg Heights, just after 12.30pm, after reports three men were seen arguing in the street, before shots were fired.

Detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under Strike Force Wardry.

On Thursday 18 June 2020, a 45-year-old man attended hospital suffering a facial wound consistent with a gunshot.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 33-year-old man at a home in Bonnyrigg Heights on Wednesday 1 July 2020.

He was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, possess loaded firearm public place, fire firearm in or near public place, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, use unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without permit, acquire prohibited firearm, acquire prohibited ammunition and possess prohibited drug.

The man remains before the courts.

Following further investigations, earlier today (Monday 27 July 2020), strike force detectives attended a home on Campbelltown Road, Denham Court where they arrested the man who was allegedly shot.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with Conceal Serious Indictable Offence.

Police will allege in court that the man withheld information in relation to the alleged shooting.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Campbelltown Local Court today (Monday 27 July 2020).
