A woman has been charged over the stabbing of a Corrective Services officer at a correctional facility in Silverwater today.
About 8.10am (Monday 31 August 2020), emergency services were called to the facility after reports that a correctives officer had been stabbed.
The 24-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital. Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
About 12.30pm today, the 26-year-old inmate was charged with malicious wounding.
She appeared before Burwood Local Court today and was refused bail.
