Innovation at heart of leading economic development conference

On-demand video content, podcasts, interactive panel discussions and virtual networking are at the core of the National Economic Development Conference (NEDC20) program, which dives into cutting-edge ideas for building resilience and driving economic recovery.

“Through an innovative virtual program, we are taking the lead to bring valuable insights and best-practice ideas to the forefront for economic development professionals across Australia and overseas to support their local economies and communities to bounce back strong,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

Economic Development Australia (EDA) CEO Jacqueline Brinkman said innovation, collaboration, investment and skills-development were common themes to be explored at NEDC20.

“This is set to be our most important national conference to date,” Ms Brinkman said.

“We’ll hear from respected economic development leaders working in industries as diverse as tourism, agribusiness and tertiary education, with highlights set to be a conversation with Resilience NSW Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, a virtual intensive session with Invest Puerto Rico CEO Rod Miller and on-the-ground economic recovery insights from local councils across Australia.”

NEDC20, EDA’s flagship annual conference, will be a completely online event running from 18 – 20 November and feature interactive presentations, panel discussions and podcasts tied to the theme Breaking New Ground – Building a Resilient Future.

“While we are disappointed not to welcome delegates to Liverpool in person as this year’s host city, we look forward to bringing them a taste of our vibrant and culturally diverse city in an innovative way,” Mayor Waller said.

Those who register their attendance to NEDC20 by Friday 2 October will go in the draw to win one of 20 ‘Taste of Liverpool’ prizes which showcases quality locally produced and sourced goods that will bring the fantastic flavours and smells of multicultural Liverpool direct to a delegate’s home.

“NEDC20 also provides a unique opportunity for business leaders to promote their organisations to Australia’s economic development leaders through sponsorships, raising their company profiles and helping to develop or strengthen strategic partnerships,” Ms Brinkman said.

NEDC20 will be held online from 18 – 20 November 2020. Visit www.edaconference.com.au for the full program, registration and sponsorship information. ‘Taste of Liverpool’ registration promotion T&Cs can be accessed at www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/nedccomp.

The NEDC20 Organising Committee wishes to thank Lucid Economics for their support as an event sponsor.
