Innovative technology behind reopening plan unveiled

Three new COVID Ready digital solutions that will support the reopening of South Australia, reunite families and protect the state have been revealed today.

From Friday 19 November, returning South Australians and travellers wanting to enter South Australia from 23 November, will be required to complete a simple border entry process, EntryCheck SA.

Accessible at SA.GOV.AU, and replacing the Cross Border Travel Registration application and SA Health exemption form, EntryCheck SA will assess an individual’s vaccination status, departure location and COVID-19 risk.

Based on the information provided, vaccinated individuals arriving from interstate areas with community transmission and from overseas, may also be prompted to use the new HealthCheck SA app as part of their entry conditions.

Individuals will be sent a link to download the HealthCheck SA mobile app, which will help monitor daily symptoms and guide users through any testing and quarantine requirements, depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Based on the nation-leading Home Quarantine SA app, HealthCheck SA provides geolocation and live face-recognition to ensure that people entering the state from high risk locations are complying with their entry requirements.

Premier Steven Marshall said the new one-step EntryCheck SA process will ensure South Australia remains safe and strong while the state reopens its borders to international and interstate arrivals in a safe and controlled way.

“We’ve streamlined our earlier processes to provide one simple, easy-to-use system, that ensures anyone arriving in South Australia knows what is required of them to monitor, test or quarantine upon their arrival,” Premier Marshall said.

“The EntryCheck SA process balances the benefits of reopening our borders for businesses and families, with the safety of all South Australians in a state renowned for outstanding COVID response.

Available from the 23 November, South Australians will also be able to integrate their digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate, into their mySA Gov app, making it easier for individuals to show their vaccination status at businesses, venues and events where proof of vaccination is required.

Once integrated, vaccination status will display each time individuals use the COVID-SAfe Check-In function, providing a seamless solution for individuals and businesses.

“This is an extra digital service to make life easier for the businesses and customers of South Australian as we reopen our borders,” Premier Marshall said.

“When someone visits a venue, they’ll be able to show their check-in and vaccination status simultaneously, saving staff and customers time.

“While integrating the COVID-19 digital certificate on to the mySA Gov app will be optional, it will be the easiest and quickest way for South Australians to show they’re fully vaccinated.”

As the vaccine data sits in the Federal Australian Immunisation Register, to integrate the COVID-19 digital certificate into the mySA Gov app, South Australians will need to:

  • Ensure Medicare is linked to your myGov account
  • Download the Express Plus Medicare app and sign in with your myGov details
  • Select ‘Proof of vaccinations’ and then ‘View history’
  • Select ‘Share with check in app’ and then ‘mySA Gov’

Premier Marshall said the safety and wellbeing of the community remained the number one priority as the state reopens its borders next week.

“I am delighted that South Australia has been able to develop innovative technological solutions to ensure we’re Covid Ready.
