Inquiries continue after cars damaged, officers assaulted – Blacktown

Inquiries are continuing after a number of vehicles were allegedly damaged and police officers assaulted in Blacktown.

About 6am today (Sunday 26 November 2023), four vehicles parked on Kildare Street and Gribble Place in Blacktown were allegedly damaged.

Three of the cars had bent or broken number plates, while another had graffiti across the windscreen.

Following inquiries, officers from Blacktown Police Area Command stopped a 33-year-old man on Main Street at Blacktown just after 9am.

While attempting to speak with the man, another member of the public alerted police to their allegedly damaged vehicle nearby.

The man, who was using a wheelchair, allegedly became aggressive and spat in the officer’s face.

Ambulance paramedics attended and, while trying to restrain him for treatment, the man allegedly punched a police officer in the face.

It’s further alleged the man picked up a sharp piece of plastic and attempted to swing at the officers.

A Taser was discharged which connected with the man; he was restrained before being sedated by paramedics.

He was taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment.

An investigation into the damaged cars is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
