The NTEU condemns the terror attack on the Invasion Day rally in Boorloo.
This was a targeted act of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protesters and everyone standing in solidarity with them.
We are alarmed by the lack of urgency and leadership from political leaders and much of the media.
This attack reflects the growing emboldenment of far-right, racist movements and broader attempts to silence protest and dissent.
Racist violence must be named for what it is and met with a clear, immediate response.
Our union has a responsibility to resist racism, defend freedom of expression, and stand together against intimidation and suppression.
