A strike force has been established after a man died and three were critically injured in a crash at Albion Park Rail earlier today.
About 2.20am (Saturday 18 May 2019), a Ford Territory was travelling south on Princes Highway, when it struck the rear of a petrol tanker which was turning out of Creole street.
A 27-year old man who was a passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Territory, a 25-year-old woman was airlifted to St George Hospital where she is now in a stable condition.
Her remaining two passengers, a man and woman, both aged 25, were hospitalised and are now also in a stable condition.
Strike Force Warrane has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
As inquires continue, anyone who witnessed the incident or events leading up to it, or anyone with dashcam vision, is urged to contact Lake Illawarra police.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
