Investigation continues into St Albans death

One of two men arrested following the death of a man in St Albans on Wednesday evening has been released without charge pending further enquiries.

The other man, a 33-year-old from Meadow Heights, remains in custody.

It is expected he will be interviewed further by Homicide Squad detectives in the morning.

The pair were taken into custody on Thursday after an injured man was found on an Emily Street nature strip about 11.45pm on Wednesday, 6 July.

Attending police provided first aid to the man before ambulance paramedics arrived.

The 49-year-old St Albans man sadly died at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Police believe the parties involved were known to one another.
