Investigation into 2010 sexual assault in St Kilda

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad are appealing for public assistance as part of their investigation into a report of a sexual assault against a 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old girl, in St Kilda in 2010.

It’s believed the two girls were staying with family in a now-defunct motel on Carlisle Street on 14 December, 2010.

Shortly after 9pm that night, the two girls left the accommodation and walked along Carlisle Street towards The Esplanade.

The pair were then approached by an unknown male in a dark coloured sedan.

The girls agreed to get into his vehicle and were subsequently provided with alcohol in the vehicle.

The man drove to an unknown licenced premises, entered, and returned to the vehicle shortly later.

The man drove the girls to an unknown residence where a second male soon arrived.

It’s believed the girls were sexually assaulted by both men.

The man who picked up the girls is described as being Caucasian with tanned skin, a muscular build and spoke with an accent.

He was heavily tattooed and one of the girls recalls him having a tattoo on his neck of the word ‘family’ and a diamond tattooed on his hand.

The second man is described as tanned, skinny, and is believed to have worked at a licensed premises.

The girls were then dropped off early the next morning near Luna Park before making their way back to their accommodation.

At the time they did not tell anyone about the incident, and it has been reported to police recently.

The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Sexual Crime Squad and police are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man described by the complainant.

They are particularly asking anyone who lived or worked in the St Kilda area around 2010-11 and may recall someone with these specific tattoos and details to come forward.
