Community and sporting clubs across the State are benefiting from a Tasmanian Government program delivering improved and new equipment.
The 2025-26 Active Clubs Program assists eligible organisations with grants of up to $10,000 to purchase additional or replace existing equipment.
Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said our Government was committed to ensuring all Tasmanians can access adequate and safe sport and recreation opportunities in all corners of the State.
“The Active Clubs Program is about helping deliver safe, fun and inclusive community sport or active recreation activities that enhance participation,” Minister Duigan said.
“We are delivering 133 grants totalling $825,382 which have been awarded under the 2025-26 program, for activities ranging from football to cricket, karate and disc golf.
“Our sport and recreation organisations are a key part of our communities, supporting them is a key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future. We are delivering support to ensure all clubs have fit-for-purpose equipment.”
Among the more than 130 recipients is the 1st Tamar Sea Scouts, which received support through the program to replace sails on two of its three patrol boats.
“Sea Scouts is a youth program focused on maritime skills, leadership, and adventure for teenagers and young adults, and the purchase will ensure the continued operation of the patrol boats used for weekly sailing and maritime safety,” Minister Duigan said.
“Importantly, this purchase will also further support the safety of participation in water activities.
“It’s fantastic to see widespread uptake of the program across multiple sports and activities, including sea scouts, which we know provides important skills for participants.”
