The Albanese Government is investing over $35 million nationally into transformative urban precincts to support communities and grow local economies.
The government’s urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (uPPP) is a merit based grant program which provides funding for community-led planning and infrastructure projects in urban locations.
Eight projects are receiving funding through the latest round of the uPPP, including almost $800,000 for the Moonee Valley City Council’s Keilor East Station Structure Plan.
Stage 2 of the Melbourne Airport Rail Link will deliver a two-line railway, from Albion, up to the boundary of the Airport, via a new station at Keilor East.
This planning project, funded through the uPPP, will guide the evolution of the precinct surrounding the new station to create an integrated transport hub, improving connectivity and supporting long term economic growth.
Other projects receiving funding this round include:
- $2.25 million for the Acton Waterfront Neighbourhood Precinct Urban Renewal Project in the ACT
- $4.967 million for the Callan Park Transformation Program in NSW
- $20 million for the Redfern Place – Community Facility and Precinct Infrastructure Project in NSW
- $3.65 million for the Bridgewater Precinct Project in Tasmania
- $1.143 million for the Sorell Growth Area Precinct Master Plan in Tasmania
- $1.5 million for the Sandridge Recreation Precinct Masterplan Project in Victoria
- $836,000 for Bacchus Marsh Civic Precinct Activation Plan in Victoria
Through their delivery, all eight projects will support future social and econmic opportunities for their local communities.
The uPPP supports both precinct development proposals and the delivery of construction-ready precinct projects.
Previous rounds have have supported 17 projects through the $150 million program.
In 2025 Hobart City Council received almost $3.2 million through from the uPPP for planning and community engagement required for development of a multi-purpose precinct at Halls Saddle.
Earlier this year the uPPP provided $10 million in funding for the Cottesloe Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Project in Western Australia to redevelop part of the foreshore into a precinct with open terraces for community events.
The Albanese Government’s regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) is a similar merit-based grants program available to projects located in rural and regional areas of Australia.
