Investing in local sporting infrastructure

Nic Street, Minister for Sport and Recreation

The Rockliff Liberal Government is a strong supporter of grassroots sports to encourage active participation in the community.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said we know how important it is for local sporting organisations to have adequate facilities.

“Our Government is investing $10 million in our Active Infrastructure Grants program, with applications for large grants open until November 13,” Minister Street said.

“The Active Infrastructure Grants program follows $25 million invested into 160 projects through the hugely popular and successful Leveling the Playing Field and Improving the Playing Field grant programs over recent years.”

While applications for small grants closed on October 4, Tasmanian sporting organisations can still apply for the large grants valued from $70,001 to $500,000.

Applicants must contribute at least 20 percent of the project costs.

Our Government is delivering on our long-term plan to invest in the sporting facilities and equipment Tasmanian communities need to encourage active participation.
