Iranian national jailed for meth importation

A 30-year-old Iranian national has been sentenced to 10 years and six months imprisonment for his role in importing commercial quantities of methamphetamine concealed inside honey jars, liquid polish and sugary drinks in late 2017 and early 2018.

Australian Federal Police investigators commenced Operation PEAFF in January 2018 following information received from Turkish authorities about a seizure of methamphetamine destined for Australia.

Investigators arrested the man in February 2018 and charged him with importing commercial quantities of border controlled drugs, namely methamphetamine, contrary to section 307.1 of the Criminal Code (Cth).
