A Blacktown man says he hasn’t let his winning lottery ticket out of his sight since discovering it had made him a millionaire in a recent Weekday Windfall draw.
The Sydneysider held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4757 on Friday 18 September 2026. He bagged a clean $1 million.
Remarkably, the winner had no idea he’d struck division one until several days after the draw when he finally checked his ticket.
If he had been part of The Lott Members Club and registered his ticket to a player card or online account, he would’ve been alerted to his good fortune much sooner. Instead, we had to wait for him to check his ticket and come forward.
“Haha! Thank you! That sounds pretty good!” he laughed when an official from The Lott confirmed his prize.
“I’m a pretty calm person normally but this was quite surprising.
“I’ve been holding on to my ticket for dear life since I realised what it was worth.
“I had no idea when I checked it. I scanned it four or five times before I took it to the counter and as the team member was scanning it, she made a comment and I joked, ‘Is this the big one?’ She said, ‘Well, it could be. We had a division one winner last week.’
“That’s when it started to dawn on me that it might actually be me.
“She read out the winning numbers and they matched mine. I started feeling the adrenaline kick in, but I still didn’t want to get my hopes up.
“I’m feeling excited all over again just talking about it.
“It does feel odd. Even though you buy a ticket, you never expect to win the big one.
“I have a few things I want to do but I want to be smart with it.
“One thing I’d like to do is buy a house.”
His winning entry was purchased from AK Newstalk, Shop 1004, 17 Patrick Street, Blacktown.
