In a year like no other, the Mitchell Shire community has shown it is truly strong and resilient as Everyday Heroes have risen above and beyond the challenges of 2020.
From organising local online events to helping people in their time of need, so many volunteers have been vital over this past year. Mitchell Shire Council needs your help to recognise these everyday heroes in our community.
In 2021, Mitchell Shire Council will recognise residents and groups as Everyday Heroes in the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Group of the Year
- Online/Community Event of the Year
- Access and Inclusion Champion
Anyone can nominate an individual or group they believe deserves recognition for their valuable and selfless service to the local community.
The Mitchell Shire Community Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will be presented during the 2021 Australia Day celebrations which will be hosted by Wallan Neighbourhood House, subject to COVID-19 guidelines.
