“It’s a sign from them”: Ballina woman attributes heavenly $100 million Powerball win to late family member

The Lott

A Ballina woman believes a late family member is looking over her from above after a day filled with heartfelt signs ended in a staggering $100 million Powerball win.

The Northern Rivers resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1587 on Thursday 15 October 2026. She pocketed the entire $100 million prize.

She now shares the title of Australia’s third biggest lottery winner ever.

“What the f***! I’m still in shock. No, this can’t be happening!” the winner screamed alongside her family when we contacted her immediately after the draw tonight.

“No, c’mon! This is bulls**t! Bloody hell! Is this my cousin pranking me? My cousin is pranking me!

“I can’t believe this! Oh my god! I am sitting here with my entire family. I love that I’m around them right now sharing this moment with them!

“They actually all put a ticket on for tonight and I had a bit of FOMO. I only bought my ticket not long before the draw closed.

“We recently had a death in the family, and I think it’s a sign from them; they’re so looking after me! We’ve had signs all day from them; things moving, cans moving, bags waving in the wind.”

As the enormity of the life-changing news sank in, her surrounding family members erupted into screams of disbelief and celebration while on the phone to us.

“We’ve just won the $100 million! F*cking hell! We’ve won the $100 million!” another family member screamed.

“We’ve won the f*cking lotto!

“We’ve just woken up everyone else who were asleep. They’re not sleeping anymore!”

Despite the endless possibilities offered by her $100 million win, the new multi-millionaire had a few simple plans in mind.

“This will help a lot of people. Not just me but lots of family members,” she shared.

“I’ll be able to pay off my mortgage!

“Now we have to see how we’re going to get the Moët delivered!

“I’ll be celebrating with breakfast in bed tomorrow – scrambled eggs and bacon for me!”
