It’s Budget night

CPSU

Tonight, the Morrison Government will deliver its final Budget before the Federal Election.

CPSU members want to see an end to the Coalition Government’s short sighted public sector cuts, and instead see real investment in a bigger and better public service that is a great place to work.

Here’s the CPSU submission to this year’s Budget as well as a short summary of our submission.

The Morrison Government will talk a lot about the cost of living. We know that there’s one thing they can do right now – allow the public sector to bargain fairly, for decent wages and secure jobs.

CPSU members are calling on the Morrison Government to:

  • Revise its public sector bargaining policy to allow genuine bargaining and remove the wage cap and the ‘no enhancements’ rules so that the public sector can attract and retain the staff it needs.
  • Get rid of labour hire arrangements, by fully abolishing the ‘ASL cap’ and bringing labour hire work and workers back into the public sector.
  • Reverse job cuts and increase the number of permanent and secure APS jobs.
  • Reduce spending on consultants, and reinvest savings into the public sector.

After the Budget comes down, CPSU members will be able to access our response and analysis.

As CPSU members you are also invited to a 30 minute webinar this Friday 1 April to get a direct briefing on the Budget and what it means for your job.
