It’s time to catch up

Do you enjoy a get together with like minded people and sharing some yummy home cooked food?

If you answered yes, then Council’s ‘Catch up Club’ could be for you!

Communities of Robinvale and Swan Hill are encouraging senior aged people to get involved in their Catch-Up Club initiatives.

Swan Hill Rural City Council, Social Support Leader Carolyn Harrop said she started Catch-Up Clubs to encourage older people to get out of their homes and be social.

“Members are getting out of their homes and meeting new people but they are also getting the chance to learn new skills like cooking.

“Many of our members come away from the get together feeling surprised at what they can still do.

“Catch up Club enables members to do things that they may have done in the past and it makes them feel worthy and independent,” she said.

The Robinvale catch up club meets every third Tuesday of the month and the gathering commence at 10.00am at the Senior Citizen building in Robin Street, lunch is included.

The Swan Hill catch up club meets every second Friday between 9.30am-11.30am at the Swan Hill Senior Citizens Centre and our morning tea in provided.

Ms Harrop said the catch ups are a fun way of getting our older people together socially.
