Jetstar to launch direct flights from Melbourne to Fiji

Today Jetstar has announced it will start direct flights between Melbourne to Fiji (Nadi) from 16 December 2023*, ready for the busy Christmas holiday period.

The new service, operated by the airline’s state-of-the-art, quieter and more fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo LR, will operate three times a week and carry up to 72,000 customers to the South Pacific nation each year.

It’s the first time a low-cost carrier has offered non-stop flights from Melbourne to Fiji, and to celebrate Jetstar is launching a 24-hour sale from midday, with one-way fares from $179^.

Jetstar’s Chief Customer Officer, Alan McIntyre, said now Melburnians can access great low fares and a non-stop service to Fiji.

“Since relaunching our Sydney to Fiji services, we’ve seen strong demand from Melbourne travellers, and from December they will be able to fly direct,” Mr McIntyre said.

“Fiji is a hugely popular destination for Australians, and with interest continuing to grow, we’re offering more than 70,000 great low fares seats each year between Melbourne and Fiji.

“We thank Melbourne Airport for its support of the new route.”

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation, Jim Parashos, said he was pleased Jetstar was introducing flights to Fiji.

“Travel demand to tropical destinations like Fiji is an at all time high since international borders reopened,” Mr Parashos said.

“Many Victorians are seeking a warmer climate and cultural experiences with short travel times, and now thanks to Jetstar’s low fares there’s even more reason to travel to the South Pacific Islands.”

“Melbourne is Australia’s largest city by population, and we’re glad to see Jetstar recognise our strong outbound demand by adding more capacity.”

The announcement comes only days after Jetstar began flying between Sydney and another new South Pacific destination, Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands, using its NEO.

The NEO will also be deployed on the carrier’s existing Sydney to Fiji service from 29 October 2023, adding an extra 46 seats per flight compared to the Airbus A320.

To support flying Melbourne to Fiji, the service between Sydney and Fiji will change to three return flights a week from 16 December 2023.

^Sale ends 11.59am AEST 5 July 2023, unless sold our prior. Fares are one-way and excludes checked baggage. Selected travel dates and conditions apply.
