Jewellery store robbed at Bowral, NSW

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a jewellery store at Bowral today.

About 2.15pm (Friday 15 November 2019), a man entered the Bong Bong Street premises and approached a female employee of the store.

He allegedly threatened the 70-year-old woman with a firearm, while making demands for cash.

A male employee responded to commotion and entered the counter area from a back room. The armed man and the male employee became involved in a physical altercation.

The man smashed a display cabinet and removed some jewellery items, before leaving the store.

He was seen getting into a Holden sedan believed to be stolen, which was parked nearby. The vehicle was later observed to be travelling at high speed north towards Mittagong.

The 75-year-old male employee was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.

Officers from the Hume Police District established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
