JUST GETTING STARTED, WOODSIDE’S CLIMATE FIB AND SCARBOROUGH FID A snap rally has been called outside Woodside’s Perth HQ at 9am today, by activists from 350 Boorloo Perth in response to Woodside’s and BHP’s final investment decision for Scarborough yesterday. 350 Boorloo Perth has called Woodside’s Scarborough final investment decision empty, and demanded an end to Woodside’s climate lies – pledging that the group, part of a coalition of organisations fighting against Scarborough, will redouble campaign efforts to Say NO to Scarborough Gas. Campaigner Anthony Collins said: “Right now the world needs to get serious about limiting fossil fuel projects like Scarborough, not helping Woodside executives get rich off them. “The Perth community isn’t just going to sit by while Woodside tries to get away with building the dirtiest new fossil fuel project currently planned in Australia. We’re just getting started – we won’t leave any stone unturned in this campaign. “The IEA has been clear, the world can’t afford any new gas projects if it’s going to limit catastrophic damage to the climate. Despite Woodside’s climate claims, Scarborough would release 1.69 billion tonnes of climate damaging carbon pollution. “I hope Woodside, BHP, Perdaman, GIP and any other investors are comfortable espousing the supposed economic benefits of Scarborough gas next time the Perth hills are ablaze. These are the real world consequences of Woodside’s emissions, and Scarborough would only exacerbate them.” F
