Kamilaroi Highway heavy vehicle detour, west of Narrabri 22 June

The Kamilaroi Highway has a detour in place west of Narrabri for all vehicles over 15 tonne.

From yesterday, Tuesday 21 June, a 1.5 kilometre single lane contra-flow has been implemented on the detour route, Culgoora Road.

The contra-flow is about 13 kilometres west of the Yarrie Lake Road intersection and is in place to prevent pavement damage to Culgoora Road.

Repair work at the Spring Creek Bridge on the Kamilaroi Highway is expected to be completed by Monday 4 July when the heavy vehicle detour via Culgoora Road will be lifted.

All vehicles over 15 tonne need to detour via Culgoora Road. The detour is approved for all prescriptive and PBS vehicles up to and including AB-triple and PBS Level 3 vehicles operating at HML. It is also approved for all vehicles operating under the Livestock Loading Scheme, Grain Harvest Management Scheme at HML, all Special Purpose vehicles (SPV) cranes up to and including SPV Level 6.

The detour is not approved for OSOM vehicles wider than 2.5m.
