Key design and creative subjects ranked number one in Australia, top 20 in the world

RMIT has secured its position as the nation’s leading institution for design and creative fields, with Architecture / Built Environment and Art & Design both ranked #1 in Australia and in the top 20 globally in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Alec Cameron said the RMIT community was incredibly proud of the results.

“This is clear evidence of our world-class teaching and research and, most importantly, that we are living up to our vision of being a leading university of impact,” he said.

Architecture/Built Environment continued to go from strength to strength, ranking first in Australia and jumping seven places to secure 18th in the world. Art and Design maintained its strong position, also ranking first in Australia and 18th in the world.

Rises were largely driven by improved performance in academic reputation and research measures, demonstrating RMIT’s international standing among peers.

They also evidence the calibre of RMIT graduates who are making a difference in their fields and a positive contribution to their industry and society.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Design & Social Context Professor Tim Marshall said it was wonderful to be recognised In Australia and across the world for the University’s innovative, interdisciplinary and creative programs.

“These results are testament to RMIT’s cutting-edge teaching and advanced research that address the most important challenges and opportunities of our time, and the positive impact of our academics, researchers, students and alumni,” he said.
