Kiama Council with Destination Kiama and Harcourts Kiama are excited to host IGNITE – Kiama Winter Festival this Saturday (4 June), from 12pm to 8pm.

Ignite your senses, imagination and taste buds at Kiama’s Blowhole Point with an eight-hour celebration of fire, ice, rhythm and feasting. IGNITE promises to be an event unlike anything seen in Kiama, bringing an entirely new space to life in breath-taking fashion.

You can relax on the lawn in front of the Pilot’s Cottage enjoying the acts on stage, slip, slide and skate on the ice rink, soar to new heights on the aerial rig or simply enjoy the food, drinks, music and ambience.

Cr. Matt Brown said Destination Kiama was using the darkest depths of winter to light up the iconic Kiama Harbour and Blowhole Point with a sure-fire winter party of fire, feasting, music and fireworks not to be missed.

“Kiama is joining other cities and towns around the world in turning a time traditionally for hibernation into a fiery community celebration,” Cr. Brown said.

“We’ve already had an incredible autumn with REVEL in May. Now we’re welcoming in winter with a free festival of fire, arts, culture, food, drink and live entertainment capped by a fireworks grand finale.”

“Bring your family and friends to our beautiful Blowhole Point for what is going to be a truly memorable experience.”

A highlight of IGNITE will be a real ice skating rink which will be open for daytime and twilight skating for 10 days (3 June – 13 June).

Mayor Neil Reilly congratulated organisers for putting together a spectacular program of activities and entertainment showcasing Kiama’s beautiful harbours and headlands.

“I want to also thank our sponsors, particularly Harcourts and Kiama Coast Holiday Parks, as well as the NSW Government, which provided support through its Regional Events Acceleration Fund.”

“I encourage locals and visitors alike to rug up and head down to Kiama Harbour and Blowhole Point to celebrate winter and being together as a community once more.”
