Kiama Street Soiree to launch Revel in May

Kiama Council

Street Soiree

The Kiama Street Soirée will kick start the REVEL in MAY calendar on Saturday 30 April with part of Terralong Street, Kiama closed to vehicles and open for dining, music, dancing and street entertainment under magical festival lights.

The Street Soiree is a free, family-friendly event where restaurants and shops will spill out onto the closed street allowing them to expand their space and occupancy during the festival.

Destination Kiama says it is going to be a night to remember.

“After a number of challenging years for many Kiama businesses, it will be refreshing to see Kiama come to life again this weekend, and right throughout the month of May,” said Cr Matt Brown.

“It will also provide our community the opportunity to reconnect and reinvigorate after two years of restrictions, whilst also supporting local businesses in the process,” he said.

Junkyard Beats will entertain the crowd and provide a booty shaking, toe-tapping, electric atmosphere with drumming and dancing, local dance groups will showcase their jazz and street performances while a live DJ will layer on the entertainment in spades.

Other installations include a classic car display, state-of-the-art lighting, as well as fun for the kids with games and a bubble machine to create a truly immersive street festival experience.

Proudly funded by the NSW Government and the Festival of Place ($14,500), this event will help stimulate Kiama’s visitor economy during a traditionally quiet, non-peak period by attracting winter visitors to the municipality.

Entertainment includes:

  • Junkyard Beats’ roving entertainment will get everyone up and moving
  • iDance Performers will be on stage dropping some jazz & hip hop performances
  • DJ will be keeping the vibes going for the event duration
  • Daisy the Cow will be coming out all dressed up in theme for the event
  • Other fun and “instagrammable” instalments in the event zone, including bubble machines, smoke machines and cold spark machines.
