MidCoast Council is inviting anyone considering their next career move to learn more about its trainee and apprentice opportunities at two upcoming information sessions.
The sessions will be held on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September from 5pm at MidCoast Council’s Administration and Customer Service Centre, Yalawanyi Ganya.
Attendees can find out more about the traineeships and apprenticeships available at Council, what is involved and how to apply.
Council offers positions across a range of areas each year, providing opportunities to gain practical experience, develop skills and work towards a formal qualification while earning an income.
MidCoast Council’s Director Corporate Services, Paul De Szell, said the program provided an opportunity to start or build a career while staying local.
“There are many different career paths available at Council, with opportunities to work across a range of areas and gain valuable hands-on experience,” Mr De Szell said.
“Traineeships and apprenticeships give people the chance to learn on the job, gain a recognised qualification and be supported by experienced people in their field.
“And they’re not just for school leavers. Anyone can apply for a traineeship or apprenticeship, regardless of their age or stage of life.”
Traineeships can provide a great first step into the workforce or a new career, while apprenticeships offer a pathway to develop skills and qualifications in a trade.
“We’re committed to developing our people and creating opportunities for locals to build rewarding careers,” Mr De Szell said.
“Whether Council becomes the start of a long-term career or a stepping stone to another opportunity, the skills and experience gained through these programs can set people up for the future.”
Both information sessions are free to attend and will begin at 5pm.
Those unable to attend can complete an Expression of Interest on Council’s website to be notified when applications open.
