Do you know a young person aged 10-25 who is giving back to their community?

Make sure that you nominate them for a Youth Recognition Award before Tuesday 15 August 2023!

Presented by Mornington Peninsula Youth Services, the Youth Recognition Awards were dreamed up by our Youth Advisory Committee, a group of young leaders aged 12-25, who meet weekly at The Corner Youth Centre.

For the second year, our Youth Advisory Committee recognises the many young people who give back to their communities, whether through volunteering, environmental stewardship, leadership, or supporting mental health and wellbeing.

While academic and athletic accomplishments are often celebrated, these awards focus on young people who are dedicated to making their community a better place to live.

Categories are for contributions in the arts, environment, inclusion, mental health and wellbeing, community leadership and the unsung hero.

‘Inclusion’ category winner Phoebe McShane founded the “Ausome Hoops” program, where young people on the Autism Spectrum could experience sports.

‘Environment’ award winner Lily Setnik created two environmental focused lessons to educate her school community about the impacts of rubbish and food waste.
