More than 200 emergency services personnel gathered in sunny Knoxfield on Saturday, 10 October for the Knox Group Appliances Day, with more than 30 appliances and specialist vehicles on display.

Held from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Knox SES and Forest Fire Management Victoria depot on Burwood Highway, the event was open exclusively to emergency services personnel.

Group Officer, Robert Williams, said the day provided an opportunity to explore specialist equipment, meet crews from other agencies and learn more about the capabilities available to support emergency response.

“Invitations extended to all four CFA groups in District 13, Knox, Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and Maroondah, with members from each group attending,” Robert said.

Personnel attended from CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria, State Emergency Service, Forest Fire Management Victoria, Ambulance Victoria, Victorian Coastguard, St John Ambulance and the Rapid Relief Team.

The diverse line-up included Monbulk’s rope rescue appliance, Edithvale’s Mobile Command Vehicle, Rowville’s remotely piloted aircraft systems (drones), Narre Warren’s new catering truck and a range of Forest Fire Management Victoria vehicles.

Robert said the day was a huge success.

“CFA and Rapid Relief Team bulk water carriers, a Coastguard boat, ambulances and specialist FRV and SES appliances also attracted plenty of interest,” Robert said.

“Throughout the morning, crews took the opportunity to discuss equipment, share knowledge and build connections with colleagues from across the emergency services community.

“The strong turnout and range of appliances made the day a great success, highlighting the value of bringing agencies together outside an operational setting.

“Knox Group thanks all participating crews and agencies, Knox SES and Forest Fire Management Victoria for hosting, and the Rapid Relief Team for providing coffee and lunch.”
