Koongamia votes on new recreation upgrades

Pias Playground

The votes are in – Koongamia residents will soon be enjoying new park and oval facilities!

An obstacle course and BBQ and gazebo area will be installed at Lloyd Penn Park and Koongamia Oval will receive a floodlighting upgrade.

These upgrades were voted for by the Koongamia community through a series community consultations held in late 2021.

In 2015, the City of Swan sold a Koongamia property for $1.3 million.

The funds of the sale were put into a trust fund to be used for recreation infrastructure projects in Koongamia.

Since then, some of the funds were used to install a bore to provide a water source for Koongamia Oval, and to upgrade Lloyd Penn Park.

The City engaged with the local Koongamia community to decide how the remaining funds were to be spent.

Residents shared plenty of great ideas throughout the consultation and the City is pleased to be able to deliver the top three items, as voted by the Koongamia community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the surveys, drop in sessions and voting opportunities.
