Exciting work to transform Kooyoo Street into an urban plaza to be used for cultural and art events, markets and holiday celebrations, is set to commence on Monday, 22 November 2021.
From Monday, all vehicle access will cease however, pedestrian access to the southern block from Banna Avenue will still be available until after Christmas. This first stage is expected to be completed by May 2022.
The Kooyoo Street project will enhance the link between Banna Avenue and Yambil Street within the Griffith CBD, creating a space that can be temporarily closed to be used for cultural and art events, markets and celebrations. It will also improve traffic, pedestrian, retail and outdoor eating amenity.”
The proposed design includes a shade canopy with trees, with no kerb and gutter in the northern block and one way traffic from Banna Avenue to Banna Lane.
A new permanent café and community kiosk is included in Stage 1 of the project.
