Labor admits it will slash health budget

Jane Howlett, Liberal Member for Prosser

In an embarrassing performance this morning, Labor’s Shadow Health Spokesperson, Anita Dow, has been forced to admit how Labor plans to pay for its thought-bubbles.

In what she thought was a smart-alec political stunt by hijacking an extremely important bi-partisan health announcement, Ms Dow scored an own goal by admitting Labor plans to cut health spending.

Despite previously trying to hoodwink Tasmanians by saying their policies will “pay for itself”, Ms Dow has now confirmed that Labor would use “cost savings” to fund its health policies.

Where are these savings coming from?

Will they once again close the beds that the Liberal Government pulled out from the Labor Green’s storage closets or will they sack a nurse a day like they did last time they were in Government? Or will they implement an Ambulance Tax and force Tasmanians to pay for an ambulance in their time of need?

However they plan to pay for it, history tells us it will be coming out of the pockets of hardworking Tasmanians.

Tasmanians don’t trust Labor when it comes to health, and they definitely don’t trust them when it comes to managing a budget.
