Labor ignoring reality on Coastal Pathway

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

Rebecca White’s trademark ability to ignore reality clearly knows no bounds.

To once again be clear for Ms White, we have already topped up the Burnie and Waratah-Wynyard Councils’ Coastal Pathway project with $12 million in additional funding that will provide even more engineering and civil contracting jobs in the region.

These are entirely new funds to support the Waratah-Wynyard and Burnie Councils and reaffirms our support for this important community infrastructure project which needed help.

It will enable works to repair existing damage threatening the rail embankment and to protect the corridor from future erosion risks.

This funding builds on the $6.6 million that the Tasmanian Government has already contributed to this project and is an important part of our $3.1 billion blitz that will underpin jobs right around the state, including in the North West.

Labor’s flip-flopping throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been woeful but this latest bungle confirms once again they stand for nothing except lies and negativity.

If this is the best Rebecca White can manage, it’s no wonder David O’Byrne is licking his chops.
