Labor Is Cleaning Up Monash Freeway

VIC Premier

The Carroll Labor Government is cleaning up the Monash Freeway, with works now underway on 15 ramps between Malvern and Narre Warren.

Crews are on site from this week, carrying out:

  • Graffiti removal
  • Sign repairs
  • Sweeping
  • Weed removal, and
  • Other roadside maintenance.

The works are part of Labor’s $36.9 million Better Roadsides program, cleaning up some of Melbourne’s busiest corridors over the next few months.

To keep traffic moving, works are happening nightly between 9:00pm and 5:00am.

Each ramp will be closed for one night, with detours, reduced speed limits and traffic management crews in place.

This is on top of Labor’s record pothole blitz, backed by an extra $352 million to double the number of potholes fixed this year, from 250,000 to 500,000.

That’s double what the Liberal-One Nation Coalition claim they’d fix in a year.

More than 83,000 potholes have already been repaired across Victoria since 1 July, with works ramping up as warmer weather creates better conditions for long-lasting road repairs.

Victorians know they can’t trust the Liberals on roads. They cut funding for roads the last time they were in power and under a Liberal-One Nation Coalition, they’ll cut again.
