Students in Melbourne’s west now have access to free, hands-on STEM learning closer to home.
Premier Ben Carroll and Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Gabrielle Williams today opened the Brimbank Tech School at Victoria University’s Sunshine campus.
The school gives more than 13,000 local students access to a world-class facility in their own backyard.
Students from 15 partner schools will be able to tune eco-racing vehicles and drones, build a mini cybersecurity operations centre and construct a smart energy micro-grid.
These hands-on experiences, and many others, put students years ahead when it comes to being job ready.
Every program links directly to a real career pathway.
That includes everything from clean energy and advanced manufacturing to cybersecurity and health technologies.
Brimbank Tech School was designed through consultation with the local community and ongoing engagement with Traditional Owners.
It’s the third of six new Tech Schools across the state, part of Labor’s $116 million investment in STEM learning.
This gives more than 62,000 Victorian students statewide free access to hands-on, immersive training.
Only Labor is giving every Victorian student, no matter their postcode, the skills for the careers of tomorrow.
When the Liberals were last in government, they cut more than $1 billion from education.
Jess Wilson’s Liberal-Nationals have already committed to $40 billion in cuts that would put schools at risk, leaving families to pay the price.
