In farcical scenes, the Minns Labor Government has announced a new timetable for Sydney Trains promising more reliable services for the T4 line while at the same time Sydney Trains has cancelled services for commuters this morning.

While the Minns Labor Government will try to spin these changes as positive for commuters, leaked documents show many commuters on the T4 line will experience significantly longer journey times as a result.

The Minns Labor Government wants to keep promising commuters a better service tomorrow; the Government’s record speaks for itself:

  • The Minns Government has never consistently met Sydney Trains’ own reliability target.
  • Two reviews and three reports into Sydney Trains yet nothing changes.
  • Cutting recommended investment to the Rail Operations Centre to improve reliability and incident response on the train network.

Leaked documents reveal the true impact of the timetable change for commuters.

Shadow Minister for Transport Natalie Ward said transport policy needs to be about delivery not just spin.

“Every month there is a new media release or a new plan for Sydney Trains, yet nothing actually improves.”

“This morning, commuters on the T4 line are waiting on platforms because of delays and cancelled services, only to look at their phones and read that the Transport Minister is today spruiking a new timetable that will make their journeys even longer.”

“After three and a half years of press releases, plans and excuses commuters just want a reliable service.”
