Labor’s taken teachers for granted. The Greens stand with them to demand better.

The Victorian Greens stand with teachers who are fed up and demanding better after 12 years of Labor taking educators for granted.

Australian Education Union members have rejected the government’s latest pay offer, with thousands of teachers and education support staff set to walk off the job and rally at Parliament.

The Greens say that teachers and education support staff shouldn’t be forced to the picket line once again just to be paid what they’re worth, but stand in solidarity with each and every person striking.

As stated by the Leader of the Victorian Greens, Ellen Sandell:

“After 12 years in power, Labor seemed to have learnt nothing. Teachers and school communities are fed up and sick of being ignored, and they’re demanding better.

“Labor’s taken teachers and support staff for granted. Our schools shouldn’t have to rely on their goodwill, dedication and free labour.

“Labor can find money for upgrades to corporate boxes at the Grand Prix and for their own pet projects, but not to pay our teachers or fund our schools.

“This is the modern day Labor party. While they’re turning their backs on teachers, sending them to the picket line again, the Greens will be standing right there with them.”
