The Opposition has once again shown it cares more about a headline than the truth.
Minister for Health, Guy Barnett, said Labor has disgracefully spread mistruths about the Royal Hobart Hospital operating under a code yellow, despite the Health Department confirming this morning that statement is false.
Secretary Kathrine Morgan-Wicks clearly said: “The claim the Health Department ‘failed’ to call a code yellow at the Royal Hobart Hospital is false.”
But Anita Dow didn’t let the truth stop her from having a dig at our hard-working clinicians and Department staff who work tirelessly throughout the day to manage patient flow through the Royal Hobart Hospital.
“Tasmanian hospitals have established escalation management protocols for patient flow, and these protocols are reviewed regularly throughout the day by clinicians and the Department,” Minister Barnett said.
“The Rockliff Liberal Government trusts our clinicians to make the right call for our hospitals.”
The last code yellow called at the Royal Hobart Hospital was in December 2022 during a COVID peak with hundreds of staff absences on planned and unplanned leave.
