Large-scale road renewal program delivered across Playford
More than 17 kilometres of local roads are looking smoother after Council’s latest reseal program.

Drivers are enjoying smoother journeys across the city, with more than 17 kilometres of local roads renewed through Council’s latest reseal program.

Mayor Glenn Docherty said the works completed over the past 12 months formed an important part of Council’s core services

“With such a large and growing road network, we apply a focused and ongoing renewal program to extend the life and quality of our roads,” Mayor Docherty said.

“This program complements our major capital projects, which concentrate on major road upgrades that completely lift a road to a new standard and design appropriate to our growing urban environment”.

“Together, this work plays an important role in keeping our city connected and moving.”

Among the roads renewed as part of the 2025/26 program were Chillingworth Road in Elizabeth East, Easton Road in Davoren Park, Greenfields Drive in Andrews Farm, Illalong Crescent in Munno Para and Lachlan Drive in Craigmore.

As part of our streetscape infrastructure, Council also delivers a rolling renewal program for footpaths and improvements for pedestrians, including new and upgraded pram ramps.

Over the past 12 months, 15 kilometres of footpaths have been renewed and upgraded, with a further 3 kilometres of footpaths newly constructed across the city. The most recent works had been taking place on Dauntless Crescent in Elizabeth Downs.

“Getting around your community, whether by car, bus or walking, is closely linked to liveability. Being able to easily reach work, school, shops, services and the places we enjoy plays a big part in loving where we live,” said the Mayor.

Council’s Annual Business Plan and Budget sets out how we will invest in our city and continue to deliver on the foundations our community needs to stay connected to people, services and places. A key part of this is maintaining our road and footpath network.
