With only 2 weeks left to nominate, Territorians are encouraged to recognise outstanding NT Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) members for the Administrator’s Medal of the Year 2026, with a new dedicated Bushfires NT category introduced for the first time.
The awards recognise the dedication and service of NTFES staff and volunteers who respond to some of the Territory’s most challenging emergencies, including fires, bushfires, cyclones, storms, floods and road crash rescues, and support communities before, during and after disasters. This commitment was on full display during the 2025-26 high risk weather season, when many Territorians saw first-hand the professionalism and dedication of NTFES personnel responding to emergencies and supporting community recovery efforts.
Nominations are open across four categories:
Career Firefighter of the YearAuxiliary or Volunteer Firefighter of the YearEmergency Service Employee or Volunteer of the YearBushfires NT Volunteer or Employee of the Year.
The awards will be presented by His Honour the Honourable David Connolly, Administrator of the Northern Territory later this year.
