EARLIER: Ongoing rain and flooding is impacting waste services in Noosa Shire.

Council’s Eumundi Noosa Road waste facility and landfill has closed to the public.

There may be disruptions to waste collection services across Noosa Shire due to the flooding.

Council is advising residents to leave their bins at the kerb and they will be emptied once it is safe for waste services to resume.

EARLIER: With more significant rain expected across the shire today, particularly in the hinterland, Noosa’s Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is urging residents to stay off the roads.

Flood picture

Flooding is impacting parts of the shire, with more than 330mm of rain falling at Pomona overnight.

With flash flooding a real risk, and the potential for landslips, residents are advised to stay home as much as possible, and avoid travelling on the roads unless absolutely necessary.

As the ground is saturated, fallen trees are now also a risk.

Council crews are out and about putting road closed signs in place where possible, but due to the weather not all flooded roads will be signed.

Remember, if it’s flooded, forget it, even if no ‘road closed’ sign is in place.

As of 9.30am Kin Kin and Cooran are isolated.

With more than 330mm of rain falling on Pomona, various roads in that area are also under water.

Cooroy Library is closed and the Mobile Library will not be operating today.

The Pomona Waste Transfer Station is closed.
