- More than $250,000 in grants allocated to volunteer-based community groups
- Project funding to go towards improving health of the Swan Canning Catchment
- State Government committed $4 million to program between 2021 and 2025
Community volunteer groups have been granted $255,055 in funding to assist with the improvement of waterway health in the Swan Canning Catchment.
The funding, which was granted through the seventh round of the State Government’s Community Rivercare program, will go towards 14 projects which will enable weed control, foreshore revegetation and wetland restoration work across key locations.
Grants of between $3,000 and $20,000 for projects running up to two years were made available as part of the program’s latest round.
The program’s next round, which will open next year, will make grants of up to $100,000 available for one-year projects.
Community Rivercare grants have been available since 2017, with the State Government in 2021 committing a further $4 million to the program over four years.
