Launch of interactive geotrail experience in Far West NSW

NSW Gov

A new Mutawintji geotrail experience has been launched to help historians, nature lovers and budding geologists explore the unique geology and heritage of the Mutawintji National Park.

Mutawintji National Park is an oasis of gorges and rock pools, dominated by the rugged Byngnano Range. Important to Aboriginal people for thousands of years, the area preserves numerous art and cultural sites. Its intricate landscape provides a haven to diverse plants and animals.

This vibrant site will be more accessible than ever thanks to the new geotrail experience.

The addition of Mutawintji National Park to the NSW Government’s free NSW GeoTours app provides a unique tourism experience by guiding visitors on a geological journey.

The project follows the launch of geotrails in the Warrumbungles, Newcastle and Port Macquarie.

The project was delivered in partnership with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, and with support and guidance from Mutawintji Board of Management, Mutawintji Local Aboriginal Land Council, local Aboriginal elders, and members of the wider community.

Visitors can install the NSW GeoTours app on iOS or Android phones and tablets.
