Launchpad ready to boost Pilbara businesses

  • New program to foster innovation and upskill small and medium sized businesses in the Pilbara
  • Program supported by the McGowan Government’s Regional New Industries Fund
  • Online format to target participants from across the Pilbara
  • Pilbara entrepreneurs are invited to sign up for a series of free online learning programs to upskill in modern approaches to grow their businesses.

Funded from the McGowan Government’s Regional New Industries Fund, Launchpad is a program developed by Pilbara Regional Innovation Network, which is led by Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and The WEB Business Hub, and includes chambers in Onslow, Newman and Karratha and the Karratha Enterprise Hub.

Using the services of business accelerator Plus Eight, Launchpad will target existing small and medium sized enterprises and new businesses from across the Pilbara.

Registrations are being taken via local chambers of commerce with the first sessions due to start in June.

Following the workshops, participants will present their ideas to a local audience of industry, community and government representatives at an online ‘pitch night’.

Pitch night winners will then present at a ‘Regional Pitchfest’ in Port Hedland later in the year.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“Launchpad is an exciting approach to foster innovation and assist new emerging business enterprises in the Pilbara.

“This initiative, supported by the McGowan Government’s Regional New Industries Fund, will give small and medium sized enterprises help to overcome challenges of being in the region, invaluable exposure and training.

“Through supporting innovation and advancing small businesses, the McGowan Government is working to ensure the long-term prosperity and diversity of Pilbara communities.”

As stated by Innovation and ICT Minister Dave Kelly:

“The McGowan Government’s Regional New Industries Fund is delivering tangible benefits for business in our regional communities.

“This business accelerator program will help Pilbara businesses move to the next level, creating jobs and driving diversification in the region.”

As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:
