Leading state schools shine at 20th Showcase Awards

Queensland’s leading state schools have been honoured at the 20th annual Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.

Education Minister Grace Grace applauded the 10 winners at a gala dinner in Brisbane tonight, attended by over 700 people.

“We’re celebrating 20 years of Showcase in Queensland this year, with tonight’s awards closing out State Education Week and World Teachers’ Day today.

“The Showcase Awards are Queensland’s most prestigious education awards, recognising excellence in teaching practice in our state schools.

“The calibre of submissions and finalists was simply outstanding once again this year – more than 120 submissions were received from schools involving 67,000 students across the state.

“All of our winners and finalists should be incredibly proud.

“Congratulations to all!”

Ms Grace said this year’s award recipients, along with the state and regional finalists, had shared in $177,500 of development grants funding.

Ms Grace acknowledged the generous support of the Showcase Awards sponsors.

“We couldn’t deliver this important program without the wonderful support of our sponsors,” she said.

The 2019 Showcase Awards sponsors were – Education Queensland International; Griffith University; Network 10; QSuper; Queensland Teachers’ Union; QUT; RemServ; Southern Cross University; Teachers Health and Teachers Mutual Bank.
