Libraries adapt to life on go – East Gippsland

We have made some significant changes to its library services to make accessing resources easier than ever before.

A new online catalogue and digital services makes it easier to browse and borrow, from home, work or even on the go, any time of the day or night.

This new digital search and borrowing system offers the library services customers expect and need, particularly in our large shire, where travelling to a library isn’t always an option.

Now, you can choose from more than 4000 eBooks, eAudiobooks or digital magazines for all ages and interests – even if you aren’t physically able to visit your local library- or place a hold on physical books, magazines and other resources for the next time you can visit a branch.

New self-checkout scanners at Bairnsdale Library and Lakes Entrance Service Centre are easy to use and save time; while the Libraries Victoria App lets you use your phone as a library card and puts our catalogue and online resources in your pocket.

Digital titles are now available via:

BorrowBox and Axis 360, which offers your favourite Australian authors, international bestsellers and much more;

ULibrary, which offers more than 300 titles for simultaneous download, which means you’ll never need to wait for someone else to finish reading for you to get your hands on a title;

Libby, your online eMagazine library, with over 1000magazines available, including Better Homes and Gardens, New Idea and Wheels, and;

Story Box Library, which gives you access to over 800popular and classic children’s stories, all read by the best storytellers.

And we still offer click and collect for books and other items.
