LIFE’S A MESS, SO CLEAN UP ON AISLE 6 WHEN BOOP COMES TO DRTCC

The winners of the 2021 Gasworks Circus Showdown Adelaide Fringe Award are coming to Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) this May.

Your everyday supermarket has been transformed into a joyous world of balance, circus and Perspex! A ragtag team of employees subvert the 9 – 5 with crashing shelves, trolley races and terrifying stunts! Will these comedic characters ever find what they’re really looking for?

This daring and hilarious 50-minute family show immerses you in physical theatre, clown and inventive acrobatics on a never-seen-before apparatus!

Statera engaged at-risk youth through a collaborative creative development process. The result is a show that was specifically designed to engage young adults and teenagers.

Statera’s Youth Arts Initiative is an additional community engagement element to the show where local young artists work with a mentor to devise, choreograph, rehearse and perform their own work. These talented locals will be the curtain opener for the 6.30 pm performance.

Manager, Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, Linda Christof said the team were excited to be working with Paul Woodhead, the founding Director of Circus West, an in-school program operating from 1991 to 2022 here in Dubbo.

“Circus West sadly ended with Paul’s retirement from teaching and Paul now pursues several avenues of interest, one of which is to support young artists participating in Statera’s Youth Arts Initiative,” Ms Christof said.

This Fringe Festival work is suited for 10 years + and is ideal for the teenager embarking in casual employment – they will totally understand the humour!

A school performance will be held on May 3 followed by an evening performance at 6.30pm on Thursday 4 May.

Tickets are on sale now and can be booked on-line drtcc.com.au, by visiting the Box Office or calling (02) 6801 4378.
