Life-saving actions by NT Police in Alice Springs

Two Northern Territory Police officers have helped save a man’s life in Alice Springs over the weekend.

The officers attended a fast-food store on Saturday afternoon following a report of a man punching a window and suffering a severe cut.

The self-inflicted injury caused significant bleeding and the officers performed life-saving first aid, including the application of a tourniquet before the man was taken to hospital.

Commander Craig Laidler said “the actions of the two officers is another example of police making the wellbeing of the community the priority.

“This man had been involved in a disturbance and this matter will be dealt with, but at the time his life was at risk and our officers used their training to treat him and keep him alive despite significant blood loss.

“This was a fantastic response by our members who we commend for their quick action.”
