Loaded firearm seized; two men charged in Bankstown

Police have charged two men after a loaded pistol was allegedly located in a vehicle at Greenacre last night.

About 10.30pm (Monday 26 February 2019), police were called to Tennyson Road, Greenacre following reports of a brawl.

On arrival police noticed a number of men walking along the road and a silver Lexus parked illegally. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command approached the vehicle and spoke with two occupants aged 18 and 21.

A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a loaded silver revolver with ammunition.

The two men were arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where the older man was charged with a number of firearm related offences including possession of a loaded firearm in a public place.

He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 26 February 2019).

The younger man was charged with possess ammunition and was given conditional bail. He will appear in Bankstown Local Court on Friday 22 March 2019.
