Fifteen local school children from Latrobe City will take to the stage alongside professional performers from Opera Australia when Don Giovanni comes to Gippsland Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) next week.
The children’s choir has been rehearsing for the production since early May, preparing for the unique opportunity to perform as part of one of opera’s most celebrated works.
The performance gives young people the chance to be involved in a professional production, gaining valuable experience while working alongside Opera Australia artists and crew.
The children’s involvement highlights the opportunities available to young people through GPAC’s program and demonstrates the value of bringing world-class arts experiences to the region.
Through regular rehearsals the children have developed their singing skills and confidence while learning what is involved in a professional opera performance.
The production also provides an opportunity for local audiences to see emerging young talent share the stage with one of Australia’s leading performing arts companies.
Don Giovanni will be performed at Gippsland Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday 21 July 2026 at 7.30pm. Tickets are still available. https://www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/gpac/events/Don_Giovanni
